WESTBURY Rangers A have been presented with the Wiltshire Times and Chippenham News-sponsored Team of the Week award for September 23, 2007, after their famous victory over Corsham Centre.

Rangers A won the award for the first time since it was reintroduced after becoming the first team to beat the reigning Premier Division champions in a league game since April 2003.

Corsham Centre went into the match having won 97 and drawn one of their previous 98 games, but their run came to an end as Rangers ran out 2-1 winners.

Marc Lanfear scored both goals for Rangers, but it was young goalkeeper Nathan Taylor who took the plaudits along with the defence, led by Dave and Tom Whyte and Mark Young who had to stand firm in the face of a continuous second half onslaught as the Centre threw everything at Rangers in the hope of preserving their record.

But, for once the Centre were unable to find a way back into a game as Rangers held out for a famous victory.
